Milan Digital week children workshop

On October 7th, 2023, during Milano Digital Week, the National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan hosted the “Children as Urban Planners” workshop. This workshop introduced young participants and their parents to urban planning principles. For this event, we developed a simplified UrbanistAI interface to make it more intuitive and engaging, ensuring children can navigate and use it with ease.

Estonian museum of natural history

Opened on October 6, 2023, the BiodiverseCity? exhibition at the Estonian Museum of Natural History in Tallinn explores the harmonious coexistence of urban life and nature. Supported by Tallinn – European Green Capital 2023, this exhibition invites visitors to ponder and respond to how cities and nature intertwine and support each other. One of the key features of the exhibition was an interactive dual-screen running a customized version of UrbanistAI, enabling attendees to conceptualize a more biodiverse urban environment and visualize the transformation of communal areas into more natural, wildlife-friendly spaces.

Tallinn Ministry of Climate

In September 2023, the UrbanistAI team collaborated with Estonia’s Ministry of Climate to enhance the capabilities of Tallinn’s urban planning department and showcase their adoption of AI in participatory planning practices. The resulting capacity building and exploration workshop focused on identifying and developing the future of Liivalaia street – a primary artery in the city presently undergoing a redesign.

East Cleveland

The City of East Cleveland, in partnership with Cuyahoga Land Bank, embarked on the Connect East Cleveland initiative to revitalize the urban landscape along Euclid Avenue. This project aims to reshape the city’s western gateway and set a direction for future investments. Attendees interacted with a 3D printed neighborhood model to identify areas for new investments, shared their future visions at a storytelling station, and used the UrbanistAI station to transform these ideas into realistic visual renderings of public art murals, streetscapes, and park spaces for this neighborhood.

CityLab Berlin

CityLAB Berlin adopted UrbanistAI to develop a series of community workshops held during the summer of 2023. These workshops were designed to allow Berlin’s inhabitants to actively reimagine public spaces and develop new ideas for the central streets of their neighborhoods. For this initiative, UrbanistAI was specifically tailored for CityLAB Berlin to produce visual scenarios representing four distinct districts of Berlin, thereby facilitating localized and relevant engagement.

Helsinki Summer Streets

In January 2023, the City of Helsinki organized two participatory workshops using UrbanistAI, involving a Citizen Committee and local entrepreneurs. This initiative was part of the city’s plan to close three central streets to car traffic during the summer months, aiming to gather public and business input on potential street uses.
